A Western Kingbird perches on a barbed-wire fence along a dirt road near the Whitewater Draw wildlife conservation area in the Sulphur Springs valley. It is in a very remote, dusty part of Southern Arizona. Old ranches and farms dot the landscape, separated by rusty barbed-wire fences. An occasional bullet-riddled Chicago Aeromotor windmill can be seen pumping dust into decrepit cattle tanks. Looks like the perfect movie set for a spaghetti western.
