Jerome sits on the side of Cleopatra Hill above the Verde Valley and is billed as a "ghost town" - a mining town that was essentially abandoned after the mine went bust. But the town has seen a revival as artists have repopulated and rebuilt. Now there are many upscale art galleries, shops, restaurants, and places to stay. Snow doesn't come often to the town, but a storm in January 2007 left quite a bit. For a very short time near sunset, the sun lit up a clearing in the clouds right above the town, allowing me to create this image. This image was created using High Dynamic Range (HDR) digital methods.
